Combat feels meaty—swinging Death's scythe feels good, and magic attacks provide just enough variety to refresh the overall feel, while keeping you engaged.

But more importantly, this game has atmosphere for days. The art design is disgustingly beautiful and each Circle of Hell (each leveled up from the last) is more twisted than the last. Lust isn't just sexy, it's horrifying; Greed isn't simply a bunch of gold, it's piles of screaming, living coins. The PSP version holds up surprisingly well, taking the gory spectacle and keeping it intact with few compromises.

Is it a God of War clone? Yeah, kinda. But who cares when you're kicking Satan in the face? If you like your action games dark, brutal, and over-the-top in every sense of the word, Dante's Inferno is the game for you—and just maybe avoid playing before you go to bed.
